bigdamnproject:

Andrew Ngai, Bourbon’s boss and owner of the expat pub where Bourbon works.
Andrew is a Hong Kong-born Brit.  He spent his childhood in Hong Kong, but left with his parents in 1997 when he was 17 for Glasgow, Scotland.  He lived there until he turned thirty, and returned to Hong Kong to try to establish himself.  He picked up a slight Scottish accent while he was there.
Andrew and Bourbon don’t really like each other, but they realize that they have to put up with one another.  Bourbon needs Andrew for the job and the visa, and Andrew needs Bourbon because he’s the best, most reliable worker he’s ever had.  Meanwhile Andrew generally tries to bully Bourbon and fails.  He likes to tell Bourbon he’ll never be Chinese, which is true.  Bourbon always fires back the same thing; Andrew will always be an outsider too.  They do, however, have their cordial moments, understanding that they’re in the same position.

Something I doodles out after work today.

Buddy Grant is a good writer! Go read his stories now….cuz they’re entertaining and feel real.
